It's Fall in Florida and we are loving it!! Sophie started VPK (pre-school) this fall at Wesley Child Development Center, the last year at this school for her. She has a wonderful new teacher, Miss Tish. She is learning more and more every day and still manages to say some of the cutest stuff! Her teacher had so many great things to say about her. I'm so glad she loves going to school and learning new things. Of course I'm interested to hear what new things she has learned every day, so I usually inquire at some point fairly soon after I pick her up.
"What did you learn about at school today Sophie?"
"Nothing."
What?! So, I have started asking more detailed questions to get to the answer that I'm looking for. She's gotten better at remembering what she's learned for the day, but the typical response I get in the car on the way home is, "I need to sink (think) about it." Fair enough kid. She's just looking for that short car ride to unwind from her busy day. :)

Dan's favorite holiday happens in the early fall. Halloween!! We enjoy being spooked at Halloween Horror Nights, Trick or Treating with our kiddos, and of course throwing our annual Halloween party!

Grandma and Grandpa had fun joining in our Halloween festivities. Grandpa came to stay with us while Dan was out of town for business. He made our morning by bring a box full of doughnuts. Sophie's favorite!!

Grandma and I love carving pumpkins! I don't think we've ever missed a Halloween carving opportunity. We are slowly convincing Sophie that carving pumpkins is fun and not gross. This year, Grant got his chance to participate.

We had the opportunity to dress these kiddos up a few times for Halloween fun. We went to a party in the park in our neighborhood, where the kids saw big fire trucks, busses, garbage trucks and police cars. Sophie had some cotton candy and got to jump in a bounce house! This year Sophie chose to be a cheetah, and of course Grandma made her costume. She was adorable! We bought Grant a cute bat costume from the store. Surprisingly, he kept it all on and didn't complain once! This just goes to show how much this dude loves being outside. As long as he's being wheeled around in his bike or the wagon, we could dress him up in just about anything!

We had another great Halloween party this year. Every year we send out an invitation online to get the word out about our party. Dan invites a majority of the people from work, and there is a lot of them. The party seems to get bigger every year! This year was no exception. As our RSVP's started to come in, we quickly reached 100 guests. Then, they just kept coming! We crept up on 200 guests and I started to sweat a little bit. Our parties have always been pretty big, but this was making me nervous. Dan was excited and had no problem with the number of people coming to our house and assured me that everything was going to be great. Still, I had a hard time even saying that number for the next few weeks of party prepping.
It turns out, the party was a success! There were a lot of people, but somehow it all worked out wonderfully. My mom and I cooked up 700 jello shots and filled the fridge. It's quite a site to see, we had NO leftovers :)
Halloween night came along and we went trick or treating at the houses in our neighborhood. We took the kids in the wagon and they lasted for two hours! Sophie is the one who called it quits when she asked for some "real food from her house". What a sweet girl! I guess there is such a thing as too much candy. Grant tried his first piece of chocolate and the look on his face was priceless. We quickly gobbled down the first bite and opened his mouth like a hungry little bird begging for more.

We are enjoying some time together as a family as things start to slow down around here a little bit, before they ramp back up again for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Lot's of fun things have happened here, including a little man who started walking a few weeks ago! Grant is 14 months and finally decided to take a few steps. After the first few steps, he has taken off! He's so funny when he walks. Both hands are up in the air, he steadies himself and goes forward quickly. I suppose his stance is appropriate because he looks like Frankenstein when he's wobbling from place to place.
He has started experimenting with words as well. He can say words like Dada, Mama, cracker ("kaka"), juice ("ju"), hi, bye bye, more ("mo mo"), and milk. It's so crazy how fast they learn things at this age. He's so much fun right now!
Happy Fall Everyone!! If it's been awhile since you last logged in here, scroll back a few posts. I've just posted three new blogs in the last few weeks. I hope to keep up with this a little better. (I think I say that every time I write here...)
With Love,
